Hey
I've been an avid reader for some years, but never really had
anything to contribute that hadn't been said a thousand times
before -'Systema sucks', 'soft styles are more art and less
martial', 'real world is way different to ring octagon mat'
etc.- and really, I still have nothing to contribute,
except questions. I am not a competition martial artist, but I
do train for work, self defense, and to keep fit. I am just
not really motivated to 'compete' as such - but I do love a
good sparring match. I find it hard to find people to spar
with outside of my regular group, as I am 6'5", about 120kgs,
and I either eat up smaller dudes like a hot breakfast -A
simple matter of physics, rather than my 'mad skillz' - in my
honest experience, the bigger do NOT fall harder-and do the same
to dudes who may weigh what I do but are... well, fat and
slow, or I become a punching bag for a serious competition
mixed-martial artist who loves to spread pieces of a big,
essentially untrained (at least in the ring - if I could eye
gouge the bastards, it might be a different story- guy all
over the ground. I actually joined so I could PM the user
Upyu, after reading a post from him on biomechanics, but now
I'm here - what the hell. I am going to train in Sambo and
Krav Maga when I take up a posting in Melbourne in April
2013, and re-connect with a bit of Arnis and Kali, so I am
sure to have questions about that.
So, ladies and gentlemen, I come before you, humble, sloppy-
styled, and eager to learn. I make no claims of martial
excellence, have no opinions that differ greatly from the
general consensus, and don't plan on trolling threads just to
get attention!
Also, I am a ninja
