- Shannon Briggs, who arguably was the lineal heavyweight champion after "beating" George Foreman, takes on Tom Erikson in a K-1 match. Erikson was one of the best and most-avoided MMA fighters in the 90's and currently coaches wrestling at Purdue. He has nothing to offer a high-level striker like Briggs in a fight without grappling, though.
This fight would've been a huge deal had it been a no-holds-barred match in the mid-90's. Having been held in 2004, however, it stands just as a curious incident in MMA history.
