Did I attend a mcdojo?

I think I may have attended a mcdojo, or is truly a real martial arts school dedicated to help students defend themselves. I ask this because, we don't spar, because they dont want us to hurt ourselves. The master says he is always right, the student is always wrong, and have to obey without question. The master has even told me that other styles have stolen techniques from kung fu. That last line is what made me question the legitimacy of my school. What do you guys think?
