Şampiyon Kickboks (Champion Kickboxing) is a small club on the Hatay in Göztepe, across the street from the as-yet-unopened Göztepe metro stop. The sign out front says Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, capoeira, and so on but really it's just American-style kickboxing (no leg kicks or throws). They have heavy bags, some Turkish strength training equipment, a pull-up bar, and showers.
The conditioning that begins class is excellent and thorough: half an hour of running, dynamic warm-up, agility and footwork drills, and kicking air in preparation for class. The rest of class is technique work with a partner, e.g. jab/cross/round kick. Sparring is light contact only (as far as I saw--I went two or three times, we sparred one round). The instructor looks very good, with crisp technique and good athleticism. One month cost 70 lira. Classes are Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. I did not see grappling or weapons instruction.
