The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) is warning schools about a person on Facebook attempting to contact student athletes.
The MIAA issued a warning about a Facebook account under the name "Manny Whelan" on Facebook. This account is offering local student-athletes money to "compete" in and "underground wrestling club" held in local hotels.
This person may have been contacting male student-athletes for at least two years. It may not be isolated to wrestling.
If you have any information regarding this, please contact your local school resource officer. If one is not available, contact the Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at 978-451-3550.
