- Ok, at the height of his career Bob Sapp was undeniably a clown. Still, his antics brought him immense popularity, a level of which that has not been surpassed by any other MMA fighter. And with his victories over Hoost and powerbombing of Nogueira, he did have credibility as a fighter even though he fought like a manic gorilla swatting at a swarm of bees.
With that in mind, this video clearly illustrates how far down hill he's fallen. Earlier this month, he fought Rolles Gracie and tapped out to strikes then as well. If this isn't an example of a fighter getting in the ring solely for a paycheck, I don't know what is. The only good thing about his recent performances is that he submits too fast to accumulate much brain damage, so with luck he might not end up like Gary Goodrtidge.
I heard he might be fighting James Thompson in March. Judging by how Thompson actually looked like he took himself seriously during his last two victories over the Pudz, I expect that fight should also end with Sapp tapping out within a minute.
