Our head instructor is Master Ricardo Murgel, 8th degree coral belt (black belt) under Grand Master Flavio Behring. Master Murgel was actually graduated by three Grand Masters, Joao Alberto Barreto, Alvaro Barreto and Flavio Behring. Master Murgel is the first Eight Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master ever to be graduated by three Grand Masters and Living Legends of BJJ. He is also the highest ranking BJJ practitioner in the Southeast, Jacare is 7th degree (but I am no means bashing Alliance, they have a great program)
We also have Professors Jim Abrille and Steve Mitchell on staff here at KnuckleUp, they teach the days that Master Murgel is at another location. Both Professors Abrille and Mitchell were graduated to black belt by Professor Kazeka Muniz and given their stripe by Master Murgel. They are great instructors and have done a fantastic job with our programs as evidenced by our competition results.

The list goes on and on. In the last three years, we have won the team overall in 5 of the last 12 NAGAs and second place overall in another 3 of those same 12. No other team has the same number of tournament wins, and that's not even going into our kids program.
So forget the "hype" and people's opinions. Here are the facts, our programs has unmatched results. No, we do not travel well, we do not go to a lot of International tournaments like the Pan's and World's, but that's because our students are regular people with regular jobs and incomes, but the students that have went have done well and we have some IBJJF medals in our trophy case to prove it.
So if you want to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or no gi grappling from one of the best schools in the region, with the best local competition record in the region, and for the most affordable price of any comparable school in the region, then come to KnuckleUp. We would love to have you.
