I think we need this guide. Bobby has offered to help author it. This thread will assist in developing the content, and I volunteer to do final write-up for .org and PDF version.
I've never put together a TD. Those that have, please contribute what you can.
Off the top of my head, the following sections should be addressed:
1. Intro / What is a TD? / Why do a TD?
2. Is a TD right for your locale?
3. Venue selection
4. Dates/times
5. Promotion
6. Attendance / recruitment
7. Photography / videography
8. Refreshments / amenities (how do scuttlebutt?)
9. Swag (yeah, right)
10. Rules / code of conduct
11. Health / safety
12. Legalese
