Which Japanese MMA has the most practitioners

Recently, i discovered that a number of Japanese martial art practitioners (mostly Japanese Knockdown Karate and Judo practitioners) have developed MMA styles that are very "Japanese" in nature.

I figured that what these guys have created must have appeal to a percentage of the MMA community. Some that have come from Japanese styles originally, such as Judo or Karate / or both.
Who want to learn / test out their skills in a more real situation
Some guys who also may be attracted to the effectiveness and reality of MMA, but who are more philosophical and spiritual in nature who may not like the modern attitude that is seen with some of the more aggressive MMA people.

Nonetheless, when I discovered one of the first Japanese Judo / Karate combo's, I was quiet interested.
However, the more I look, the more other styles I find.

The first style I found was Kudo Daido Juku. Then the other day I also discovered Nippon Kempo, which looked similar. After reading one of the bullshido boards, I just found another style that I wasn't aware of called Enshin, which again looks similar to these both.

I was wondering if any one who is experienced in these styles could let me know of any other Japanese styles that also are similar in nature, in that they combine Karate striking with Judo throws and sweeps (and maybe even ne-waza). And also give me an idea as to which is the most popular (so I know which one has the best competitions).
I also wonder what the differences are between safety equipment. I.E. which styles uses what safety kit.

I was also wondering as to whether there are any instructional books / dvd's on these martial arts. As I have not been able to find any online.

I also understand that there are loads of other styles that are not Japanese that are again also similar, such as SanShou and Combat Sambo etc.

Grateful for any help.
Kind regards

Justin

Judo defence against strikers randori

hey
anyone know of any style that trains Judo people to use Judo against strikers in a free fighting type of way.
what I was thinking was more for self defence and a way to help Judoka become more skilled or perhaps quicker at using Judo against strikers
than a MMA style.

If anyone knows of one, advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
:-)

Concealed Carry Courses and Instructors

Due to recent local events and some of the insane reactions from some people I know in that online kind of know. Spurred me to create this post.

*edit*

I think this also answers the question as to why I, personally, do not CC firearms I checked these guys out in passing a while back.

Which surprisingly enough, didn't meet the Armory's posting standards on it's own. It was probably too close to call at first glance. Poe's Law get's me all the time.

But more to the point. Why did these "experts" at least two in the store. Allow someone to die... during a Concealed Carry gun safety course. There is no such thing as magic. Things never "just happen".

How does one know that we are picking a good instructor? Online everyone is an expert, new ones show up here all the time for example.
I think we have duty to show people what to look for when it comes to good firearm instruction. Not talking about fancy tactical shooting, but what traits and qualifications should your CC Instructor have?

Olympic Taekwondo Training?

I've done a lot of ***** strip-mall Tang Soo Do in my day, so I'm pretty sure I have a good understanding of how Taekwondo is trained at the common "kiddie karate" level. It's comically soft, with little combat or exercise value; against an untrained opponent of equal or slightly lighter size, the Taekwondo practitioner will typically have zero advantage and may even be worse off than if he studied nothing at all.

My automatic assumption is that Olympic-level What The **** Taekwondo training is better than this. From what I've seen and heard, Olympic competitors are usually athletic monsters even if they practice an ostensibly ***** sport like race walking; when you're competing against the entire world, it obviously pays to work really fucking hard. The question is, how does the intensity of top tier Olympic TKD training stack up against other combat sports such as wrestling, Judo, or boxing? I've seen high-level Taekwondo competitors get their asses kicked in K-1 and MMA, but that has more to do with the technical failings of the style when put in an environment where they can actually get punched in the face and taken down. What I'm asking is, what passes for "hard work" in the Olympic Taekwondo world?

Also, how big is the talent pool for international Taekwondo competition?

Bagwork before strength training and other questions

I'm planning on stepping up my conditioning. I currently go to a boxing gym that has a decent weight room and is pretty cheap, and I've been enjoying doing some weight training after the bag sessions. However I don't want to injure myself with shitty form, so my plan is to stop going there for a while and instead go to a weightlifting club that has a fairly big focus on coaching to learn how to do squats, deadlifts etc without killing myself (I will still be doing Muay Thai twice a week), then go back to training at the boxing gym. A few questions:

1) Is it a good idea to do weight training after bag sessions, i.e. does it matter that you aren't fresh?
2) The weightlifting club offers powerlifting and olympic lifting. My original plan was to start the 5/3/1 program when I returned to boxing, but I have since heard that olympic lifting is also very good for martial arts as it develops power. Any advice on integrating the two?
3) Is there any glaring stupidity in this plan that I haven't spotted?

Protective gear for preventing rib injuries

Hi, can anyone recommend padded tops or something similar for preventing rib injuries? I've had 4 cartilage injuries in 6 months, 2 from impact and 2 from compression. I figure a padded/protective top could have helped prevent the impact injuries.

I've seen a doctor and am completely healed now, but want some additional protection for when I go back.

Anyone tried anything in this area?

Thanks, love to all. Rich

So, I take my uniform off and get jumped by a **** ton of white officers for no fucking reason at all. They beat the **** out of my family as well. I get out of jail for defending my family (still facing charges), put it back on and I'm getting jumped by a **** ton of black thugs, who want to beat me down while calling me a white boy for doing my job. I'm embarrassingly on paid leave after being found justified in my use of force in a really bad looking video. Yeah, that whole song and dance. If I was a white cop this would be a riot. My thing is this, I just go about my business, I'm mistaken for a black thug, and cops want to kill me. I put a uniform on and enforce law and order (privately, I don't work for the state), I'm now a "white boy" and black thugs want to murder me? How am I supposed to win in this mess?

So...

We can't talk about crooked, thug ass "public officers" here, who commit crimes to enforce the law? Can we put "pro" before the subtitle then? Cause I thought Bullshido was uncensored discussion on any topic. And I sure as hell have something to say about a gang of public officers and self defense against those thugs. I don't CARE if you're sympathetic.

Its a shame and I feel like bit of a heel that the first thing I noticed was:

I noticed that right away when I was listening to the radio, not one person mentioned the technical specs of the truck, how much gas it can hold, how easy it was to purchase, how heavy it was, how only certain people should be able to buy it, who made the truck, how its silly we can't sue the truck maker for this.

Right away with a gun issue its oh it holds this many bullets, its this make and model, ect ect ect.

I truly intend this to be in line with the forum requirements. It is apolitical and speaks to a self defense/LEO incident that has occurred on the stated date. I defended myself and an innocent womaqn., some LEO officers did their jobs and several committed criminal acts, maiming an innocent woman. If this forum is NOT ab4out self defense, or law enforcement, then please change the title.

Incident Report: 5/24/16

On May 24th, 2016, I was awakened by yelling by my fiancee. I do know what her problem was as I was asleep. I woke up and told her not to yell at me. She continued to do so. I ignored her and grabbed a drink of water. She then yelled at me for drinking water out of a new glass. Annoyed, I splashed it in her face. We yelled at each other and she grabbed a business card and ran off. I tracked her down, realized she was calling a domestic help hotline and agreed on that course of action. She said they refused to provide a counselor. I then asked for the phone. When I picked it up, they told me that there was no problem. I disagreed. They said no one was available and to hit an ER for some meds to calm down. We went. Checked us in together. The doctor saw me and asked why I was the only one getting an eval. I said it was because she saw a man and a woman with the same problem and figured it was my fault. She said "sorry you feel that way, but it's a couple of other things." She winked at me and asked me some questions. Every question, when I didn't have an immediate answer, she provided one. "So, these BJJ police that are after you, you've decided to threaten them back, yes?" "Um..." "Are you going to kill them?" "Yes?" "Do they only come when you are alone?" "Are these police putting thoughts into your head or taking them out"? "Ummm...." The **** is she talking about? They're sure as hell real, and if I was gonna clap at dudes it have been happened. I just meant that the drama was a stressor.

So I told her she just didn't get BJJ and she agreed and left. For three hours. Three hours later, they're providing not treatment, so me and my fiancee head out. We'd been sitting there talking and figured our issue. A nurse walks in, see our dog and gets scared. "PUT THE DOG ON A LEASH" She yells, "You can't leave!" and runs off in a panic. All of a sudden security is everywhere. I'm baffled, and ask what's going on. No answer. They just stare at me. So I ask for a lawyer. Stares. So my fiancee asks whats up. Stares. I can see them in a combat formation, so I grow uncomfortable, especially given the lack of legal or medical information. So I walk out, figuring they'll explain this mess or let me go. Instead one thug starts to strangle me while the other drops my wife. She says "Oh my god, no, what are you doing???" and falls and doesn't get up. So I drop that asshole. The other two thugs, throw me onto a bed. My wife and the thug wake up and both approach. My wife says "Don't fight." So I don't. I immediately say "I SURRENDER" loud and clear. The criminal yells "**** YOU" and starts strangling and beating me while his assailants are tying me to a bed. They shoot drugs into my ass, the same drugs they said were dangerous and that I couldn't have. I say "What the ****? I have rights!" "YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS!!!" and the criminal begins to strangle me. I call for help and after a while he stops.

So, point is, This is what LEO has been up to recently. This **** is not a question. They knocked my wife out and when she woke up they threw her into walls and doors, to further injure her.

There is no question. I just want these motherfuckers to see what their comrades have been up to recently. This is a fucking statement.
